Add meat, broth, water, mushrooms, onion, salt and pepper to saucepan or stockpot. (I go large, as I always at least double this favorite recipe.)
Bring to boil, then reduce heat and simmer about 60 minutes. Add water as needed. The longer the cook time, the more tender the meat gets.
When there are about 5 minutes left on that cook time, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, salt and pepper in a small bowl. When well-mixed, fold into the meat mixture. Cook another 20 minutes or so to heat through.
Serve over egg noodles. |
